Mortal Kombat II (Warner Bros. | Wide Release | May 8, 2026 | Rated R | 1h 56m)

The tenth Mortal Kombat tournament has arrived, and Earthrealm’s champions are finally stepping into the arena. Directed by Simon McQuoid and written by Jeremy Slater, the sequel picks up where the 2021 film left off, with Raiden and Sonya Blade now recruiting washed-up Hollywood action star Johnny Cage as their fifth fighter alongside Liu Kang, Jax Briggs, and Cole Young.

Standing against them is the tyrannical emperor Shao Kahn, who conquered the realm of Edenia years earlier by killing its ruler, King Jerrod, and claimed both Queen Sindel and Princess Kitana as his own. Quan Chi, acting on Shao Kahn’s orders, resurrects Kung Lao and Kano to fight for Outworld, though Kano’s already-corrupt nature makes him difficult to control.

Karl Urban leads the new additions as Johnny Cage, with Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn, and Tati Gabrielle as Jade. Returning cast includes Jessica McNamee, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Lewis Tan, Josh Lawson, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Tadanobu Asano.

Mortal Kombat II co-creator Ed Boon appears in the film. The score was composed by Benjamin Wallfisch, with cinematography by Stephen F. Windon.
